ACOTAR Cosplay
Just before the Paws and Claws Fantasy Ball, I had the chance to photograph an incredible cast of cosplayers bringing beloved characters to life—mostly from A Court of Thorns and Roses (ACOTAR) by Sarah J. Maas, along with a few unique original creations.

The Pirate King – Jay
We started with Jay, who first stepped into the role of a pirate—confident, charming, and ready for adventure. Then he shifted into his Helion cosplay, bringing the High Lord of Day’s charisma and warmth to life, even under cloudy skies.
The Spring Court Emissary – Cain
Cain followed, clad in his striking Lucien costume, complete with an 8–9 pound coat that grounded the character with an air of quiet strength and loyalty. You could feel the physical weight and emotional depth he brought to the role.

The High Lord of the Night Court – Jennings
Next came Jennings as Rhysand, the High Lord of Night. His portrayal was layered and magnetic—capturing both the power and mystery that make Rhys such a fan favourite.
The Necromancer – Moira
Moira transformed into her original character, Aisling the Necromancer, and brought an eerie, focused energy that felt straight out of a dark fantasy realm. She completely owned the space, making the most of the moody light and atmosphere.

The Smoke Show
We ended the day with smoke bomb portraits—an amazing way to bring the whole cast together. Cory, as Azriel, truly embodied the shadows. With smoke curling around him and a dark forest behind, it felt like the character had stepped right off the page. The rest of the ACOTAR Cosplay group added a burst of colour and movement, turning the drizzle into something cinematic.
Even with the looming rain, everyone brought their best. It was creative, collaborative, and full of moments that reminded me why I love capturing this kind of work. There’s something special about watching people bring characters to life—not just through costume, but in spirit.
